Q&A with Alexa C. Hansen Executive Director, Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy Management, Carnegie Mellon University

  1. What is your current role at your institution/company? Executive Director, Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy Management for Carnegie Mellon University. Using a consultative sales approach, I focus on aligning the assets at Heinz College and CMU with the goals of our corporate, government, and non-profit partners.

  2. How long have you been a NACRO member? Since 2012.

  3. What do you enjoy most about your NACRO membership? NACRO is a group of smart and motivated A-listers who are passionate about developing and sustaining external partnerships that benefit our universities and colleges; what could be more motivating and fun?!

  4. So far, what has been your greatest Corporate Relations success?  I’ve had the privilege to work at three of the seven colleges at Carnegie Mellon and have maintained corporate relationships across campus, positioning me to easily offer holistic opportunities and deeper, broader engagements at CMU. What has been your greatest challenge? The biggest personal and professional challenge for me has been being patient as the engagement process can be long road to you see a return on your investment of time and energy!

  5. What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know? My first job in college was as a Good Humor ice cream truck driver; I demolished four trucks in six weeks and was asked to find another summer job.
